Karen Gillis Taylor
As a history student visiting Europe's art museums, Karen immediately
returned home to enroll in art courses with teacher certification at
the University of Colorado, eventually earning a BFA at Colorado State
University. Vowing to become a successful painter, Karen got her
professional start in the art world by illustrating children's Sunday
school materials, going on to freelance for New Mexico Magazine,
Denver Business Magazine and National Geographic Traveler. While
working for Quilter's Newsletter Magazine and Quiltmaker, Karen
further developed her love for color and design.
She continued to develop her career in fine arts painting, eventually
owning her own gallery, teaching and exhibiting nationally as well as
in her home state of Colorado. Her paintings and prints have sold
coast to coast and in Canada as well. Karen is continuing to develop
her Night City painting series and is currently producing a book
called "Personal Palettes: Mastering the Art of Color in Quilts." She
lives in Boulder County with her family and dogs Hally and Romeo, and
cats Mimi and CheŽ. |
